City commences with resurfacing roadworks in Plattekloof and Bothasig

The City of Cape Town’s Urban Mobility Directorate is advising residents of roadworks along Plattekloof Road (Southbound) between Baronetcy Boulevard and Uys Krige Drive in Plattekloof and Vryburger Avenue (Southbound) between De Grendel Avenue and Bosmansdam Road in Bothasig. The work is planned to take place from Monday, 23 February 2026 until Monday, 23 March 2026, if all goes according to plan. Read more below:
Nightwork has been planned between 19:00 and 05:30 from Monday to Friday for this project. This is important, so that the construction becomes less of a disruption during the morning and evening peak periods. These roadworks forms part of regular maintenance to prolong the longevity of the city’s road network.
‘Residents and business owners in the Plattekloof and Bothasig area can expect some noise while works are under way over the next few weeks. Our teams will do their best to complete the road resurfacing as efficiently as possible. Residents can look forward to this newly resurfaced portion of Plattekloof Road and Vryburger Avenue very soon. The City’s Road Infrastructure management teams will be working hard to get to as much of this important road maintenance work while the weather conditions remain favourable. We ask that the public remain patient while these projects are under way as we have a limited period of time during the year where we can push to complete as much of this work as possible. Maintaining these roads is one of the ways in which we keep Cape Town moving,’ said the City’s Mayoral Committee member for Urban Mobility, Councillor Rob Quintas.
Apart from resurfacing the road, the works will include the following:
- The removal of damaged kerbs and installation of new kerbs.
- The replacement of selected and damaged channels and re-alignment where needed.
Residents who make use of this stretch of road are advised of the following:
- All lanes are scheduled to reopen to traffic by 06:00 on weekdays, unless something unforeseen occurs.
- Due to the expected congestion in the area, it is recommended that road-users consider making use of alternate routes between 19:00 and 05:30
